About
Dr. Chambliss teaches race and ethnicity, urban history, city planning history, African-American history, and popular history courses. In addition to traditional pedagogy Dr. Chambliss has directed several service learning projects using oral history interviews to explore municipal development, housing, gentrification, and race. His recent publications have appeared in Encyclopedia of the Great Migration, Studies in American Culture, Florida Historical Quarterly, and Ohio Valley History. He has also co-recipient of a Florida Humanities Council grant for Placing Memory, Exploring Context: Winter Park’s Colony Theatre an exploration of urban development in Winter Park. His current manuscript project is an examination of the civic organization and city planning in southern cities. Dr. Chambliss is a past-president of the Florida Conference of Historians and Co-Chair of the Social Science History Association’s Urban Network and a board member of the Society for City and Regional Planning History.
